Katie Rappel

Katie is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts(1980), and has had an extensive career performing and choreographing in Australia and abroad, before establishing Crazy Feet Dance Studio in 1992, and then Spectrum Dance in 2008. Katie’s career has taken her overseas on acclaimed theatrical tours as well as touring locally in a large variety of shows and corporate events.

Katie’s stage show credits include; Dream Girls, Paradise by Night, Starz, Galaxy’s, Body Power, Hollywood Legends and Tales of Hoffman. Katie has also achieved success as a cheerleader for the AFL, Carlton Bluebirds and NBL Melbourne Tigers. Katie has performed in A Tribute Show to Andrew Lloyd Webber, Victorian State Opera, British Pavilion and World Expo 88, as well as various corporate performances and fashion shows for Tony Bartuccio and Gillian Fitgerald. Her choreographic credits include national television commercials, including Budgie the Little Helicopter, and a number of children’s shows.

Katie’s passion is to help her students reach their full potential, by encouraging their development and maximizing their exposure to professional environments, in both Dance and Musical Theatre.

Katie continues to grow as an educator, and is a qualified Cecchetti teacher (L.C.B.A.-C.I.C.B., Certificate IV CUA 40313, Accredited Trainer TAE40110 & CUA40313). She believes that training the whole person/dancer technically and holistically is a strength that enables Spectrum Dance to achieve the high quality of students that it continually produces. Katie’s students have appeared in a variety of professional productions. Credits include: Billy Elliot, Annie, Love Never Dies, Boy from Oz, Strictly Ballroom, the English National Ballet, Wizard of Oz, Oliver, The Shakespeare Company, Tokyo Disney, the Australian Opera, Production company, West Side Story, Disney Paris, Moulin Rouge and more.
